Preschool for 3 Year Olds
Research has shown that children this age are preparing for a lifetime of learning through spontaneous play and peer interaction, as opposed to teacher-directed lectures and worksheets. Kid's Castle uses a play-based curriculum based on the Wisconsin Model of Early Learning Standards. Kid's Castle’s 3-year-old preschool program is based on the unique needs of this age group. Three-year-old children are just beginning to learn responsibility and are moving from individual play to more cooperative group play. Young preschoolers benefit greatly from having many opportunities for interactive play in a familiar environment.

Learning Patterns
Three-year-olds are busy people. They are at a transition stage because they are able to move and communicate more than they ever have before but are still working on respecting boundaries and dealing with feelings. Children this age need lots of room to run and grow as well as visual reminders about routines and expectations. You will notice that many items and play areas in our classroom are labeled with words and photos. This helps the children by providing a sense of order and belonging, both to help children clean up after themselves and to emphasize print awareness. This is a big benefit in developing pre-reading skills. Three-year-olds are intrigued by colors, shapes, patterns, and textures. Learning to name and manipulate these things along with counting and matching is how children learn early math skills.
